Fueling India’s Future: Ministry of Science & Technology(MST)!

The Ministry of Science and Technology is a Union Government ministry responsible for framing and implementing the rules, regulations, and laws related to Science and Technology in India.

The Government of India established the Ministry of Science and Technology in May 1971. The ministry consists of the following departments:
i) Department of Science & Technology (DST)
ii) Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR)
iii) Department of Biotechnology (DBT)

To address challenges and subjects in the field of science and technology that go beyond the scope of individual departments, the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser  to the Government of India was set up in November 1999 by the Cabinet Secretariat. The functions of this office include promoting innovations, developing technology systems useful in multiple sectors, and framing policies, strategies, and missions.

Currently, this ministry is led by Dr. Jitendra Singh, as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) and Professor Ajay Kumar Sood is the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
